5 Rings

Countries come together for one thing,
One goal in mind,
To win something shiny to win something round.

Competing men and women show the world their desires,
Four years in waiting it finally arrives,
All the hard work slowly paying off.

Early mornings and late nights a distant memory,
While the rest of us carry on with our lives.

Tension filled body’s exact perfect moves,
When the crowd roars electricity fills the room.

Hoping to gain a place in history and a place in our hearts,
That day comes for some but not for all.

Good write, Priscilla. I surmise this is an entry for Janis Thompson's Olympic Mania contest. Good luck, and welcome. Randy Steele
