4am

floating rings of black water,
broken harps wail in infant cries.

spitting into a can of rhapsody,
is what keeps me awake til 4am.

I discover silence and dance to its verse,
I am guided both by sorrow and bliss.

I chose pain most of all to ride with me this moment,
for guilt is not a pleasure but it is easy to sleep with.

Have you been walking the floor at night feeding your infant, Frank, or have you succumbed to guilt? This is a delightful poem! Best wishes, Carolyn
