49 For 47

Some of us came from reserve cadets
Waiting for the course to commence as yet
Standing in khaki for the first time
Balmorals angled just fine

On the 10th of January 1974 at Fort Largs Police Academy
For a three year police cadet course 47 you see
And for three years we went through
Drilling running studying and being told what to do

But that was 49 years ago
When there were ups and down to show
We are now in our twilight years
Wanting to raise a glass of beer

So for each and everyone
Forget the downs for you have won
And can count to 47 the best
Sit back and savour each minute left!
