30 Billion For the Flood
When it rains
You either heal or be ill-ed.
Water; a symbol of tranquility,
or catastrophe.
I'll buy the sky 30 billion colours
So she may party with the rainbow,
and leave my city on her negative film.
Because I have seen broken men
Walk the street in wetness and silence,
and in arms that have welcomed nemesis.
Take me to where bodies are sold
So I may buy the heavens 30 billion tongues
That speak nothing but praise.
For who knows if we lift the kingdom,
and exalt the their throne to a bigger feat
They may look upon my city, in pity.
For I would rather drown in penury
Than watch souls lead a wet path to death;
I would rather not buy the tribune
Than read about a brother
Who lost his home- wife and six children
To the flood that chokes his city.
If 30 billion can buy the sun
I'll empty my purse and dry this land
For my heart bleeds everytime a soul sinks
Into a mouth that finds it hard to breathe.
