30 Best Minutes
30 Best Minutes
She was born and cried for her daddy
I was there to hold her in my arms
She gurgled, with a slight giggle
My heart dropped right then
At goo goo, she had me in her hands
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Her eyes cracked open and she saw me
The man that would love and raise her
That I would lay down my life for her
But she didn't know this, or did she?
The angels in heaven knew, so how could she not?
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Mama smiled, as I held our creation
And beaming with joy, my heart pounded
I couldn't believe that this beauty came from me
She coughed and I said; "You're okay baby
Papa's got you. No need to worry"
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
After a few minutes, the nurse ask me to lay her down
But I couldn't because she had my heart
Letting her go would be like relinquishing my life
And as I laid her down. I heard the howls of the hounds
Her eyes stared at me, as to say; "It's okay daddy."
I surely can say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
The monitor beeped slowly
Like the bells that toll for thee
Then that painful single line stretched out
As my mother called her home
I can surely say without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Yet, the worst as well
