2 A M
It’s 2 a.m. again…
the hour when the world sleeps
and my heart forgets
that it’s supposed to.
I don’t know how to say this
without losing you—
so I whisper it to the dark
and hope destiny
is listening for once.
You…
you’re the thought I can’t outrun.
The name my mind repeats
like a soft prayer
when everything else falls silent.
You laugh,
and something inside me melts—
quietly, secretly,
beautifully.
Like I was made
just to hear that sound.
I tell myself every day
to stay your friend—
to stay safe,
to stay careful,
to stay silent.
But God…
if you knew how many times
I’ve wanted to say your name
like it belonged to me.
If you knew
how many nights I’ve stayed awake
imagining your hand in mine,
your head on my chest,
your breath mixing with mine
in a world where we weren’t afraid
to love each other.
I don’t confess
because I’m scared.
Scared of the day
you might step back
instead of stepping closer.
Scared to lose the one person
my heart already calls home.
So I keep it all inside—
every feeling, every hope, every tremble—
and just let destiny decide
what I’m too fragile to risk.
But if I ever get brave—
if one night,
this heart stops hiding—
I’ll look at you
with every truth I’ve buried
and finally whisper:
“It was always you.”
