22 Years Till Midnight

peek-a-boo of butterscotch,
blushing rivers of innocence,
dawn, and daybreak and
ignorance,
a blink, a breath a sigh.

tick.

golden drops and turquoise
whirls,
emerald blankets, marshmallow
swirls,
gum drops and moonbeams
and lolipop curls,
crayola lipstick and jellybean
pride.

tock.

periwinkle shadows, luminary
flirtations,
noble, epic, heroic,
melancholy silence, drowning
wick,
parafin overdose - letting go is

tick.

frigid incense atop violet steed,
screaming jaded memories,
city of two tales, die short of a
win,
fires burn while flames die.

tock.

early dusk, everlasting days,
mascara tears stain, fade away,
secluded in circles of
emptiness,
despair envious of deceit.

tick.

onyx oozing, burning crimson,
sleep comes only to those who
dream,
nightmares provide relief, ebon
streams,
powdered, wilted, decayed.

tock.

icy warmth floods the soul,
empty hourglass,
concrete angel, stoic silence,
peace at last.
memories once black and
white, fade to shades of grey,
crumble, disintegrate, on wings
of the storm, slowly slip away.

tick...
