Have you ever seen someone with a perfect life? On social media? Instagram Facebook Twitter Snapchat The list goes on and on As the times go on The “perfect life” plastered all over your feeds You sit and scroll for days Comparing your life Your body Your mind Your friends Your family You’re Whole World To nothing more than a false reality Nothing these days is real The pressure to Say Do Act A perfect way Is nothing out of the ordinary Not for today's world Not a single thing out of place Every loose thread, sealed up with filters, covered by comments, filled with likes Every teenager, knows that every person older than them They have also been a teenager But they will Never understand Understand what it's like to grow up in today's world With the consist pressure The consist words, hanging, lingering in the air “You need to stop being so lazy” “You need to grow up” “These are the best years of your life” “Be happy” “You're never around anymore” “What happened to my happy little kid?” “Why can’t you pass any of your classes?” “Your life is not horrible, stop acting like it is” All these things they pile up on top of us And they wonder why we can't do our best And yes, its their first time living too There going to make mistakes But dont let them know they hurt your feeling Don't start that “Your such a baby” “Quit being so emotionally” You don't want to start that Not today, Not ever The world is always changing, Always growing, Time will never stop, Time will never wait for you to get ready, Never wait for you to grow up Grow up a little bit more. Just a little bit more. Before it throws you into the ocean The Ocean you'll Never escape

Raeghan, the challenges and criticism during youth loom large. I hope you will remember them and break the pattern when you have the chance. This is a very interesting work and makes me feel inside your head...although you've said that's not possible. We can only all do the best we can...and even then only when it's important to us to succeed. Otherwise, motivation dwindles.

This is brilliant. I love how your poem is a heartfelt critique of the pressures faced by today's youth, particularly in the digital age. Its unpolished, stream-of-consciousness style underscores its emotional rawness, making it a powerful and urgent expression of modern angst. It serves as both a cathartic outlet for those who relate and a call to action for greater understanding and compassion in a rapidly changing world.

Thank you so much. With this poem, I wanted to make sure people could glimpse what it is like to grow up in today's world. I hope I made that clear and passed on the message. Thank you.-R.S
