2023 Could Be the Year

2023 could be the year,
When we stop living in the past,
Righting wrongs for people who are long passed,
And concentrate on helping those who have not yet passed.

2023 could be the year,
When we stop seeing the future in the past,
Begin to hear the cries of those who passed,
And thought they could right all the wrongs that have passed,
Only to discover, too late that they had made it easy for hate to be passed,
On to the next generation to keep them in the past,
So, hate can be involved in all that has not yet passed.

2023 Could be the year,
We decide, in the past,
Not to trespass,
So hate can stay buried in the past.

2023 could be the year,
That we heed the warnings of the past,
About the motives of those using wrongs of the past,
To keep those who have not yet passed,
From working on a future where Love not hate is passed,
To the next generation and hate becomes a thing of the past.

Yes 20023 could be the year,
Should be the year we learn from souls that have passed,
But I suspect hate has followed us into 2023 from the year that has passed
In which case, we must pray that the time has not yet passed,
For hope and love to be the foundation stones of our future past.
