2016
In the night of the sky a ball will drop
Iconic upon which the people gaze
As they count tipsy drunk and sober
A bringing in of a New year
Some have resolutions
Finding love, weight loss, simply goals to complete
Many for the second time around
Last year they failed to meet
Stunned at its beauty
Their eyes all meet
As we begin counting backwards ironically
For once most embraced, Kisses and Love make
As the story is told, tomorrow is another day
Just a new calendar to display
A resolution simplified
Try to live your best life every single day
The change truly comes
When we've all gone away
Leaving those to mourn
With all the things we were unable to say
So as we stand still
And welcome it in
Start of "2016" we'll cheer
Everyone "Happy New Years!"
