1 Day At Heaven, 12 Days At Hell

Time has turned us into strangers to our own past,
unrecognisable beasts in search of some unknown variable
to find a stability as a rock to our own convictions
that were lost with the change of tides.

Often condemned for our portrayal
of stereotypical convictions attached to our origins
at first impressions even after accustomed to foreign ways
and embraced it with familiarity.
we are met with alienation, sometimes everyday.

We are constantly denied god's green earth,
our soul dances to the fire to rain for hope from the skies.
may be through my new looking glasses,
may be the world around me will seem sweeter.
Only if it were so simple.

we are drunk on hope till we are sober to pain
and wake up hungover to reality.
Have we leased our laughter to the devil
the then skies seem to shed tears.
Wondering empty eyes staring
at the running drops on the tram windows
as the houses move back block after block.

1 day at heaven, 12 days at hell
what earth we are on
that it takes 13 days to go around the sun.
