1980 Something
Yesterday...
Bell bottoms,
and soldier pants,
Rock n roll,
like army ants!
Dittos, and Op.
Style and fashion,
disco and pinball
it was a passion.
The beginning...
of pong,
and TV too real,
the romantic life,
they meant to steal.
The fervor of a generation.
Standing up to be counted,
together and separately as one.
Fast cars and superstars,
heroes of the right kind.
Those that stood up,
when others watched.
Those that kept standing,
when others ran.
The years are gone,
and time is at hand.
We look back,
to sinking sand.
Brave hearts that meant well,
now no longer dwell,
in the house of tomorrow's making,
but in the land of the shaking.
We the children of yesterday,
need to turn the radio up.
We need to be,
more than we are!
Hope.
