1-800-Got Junk

What's the big deal with garage sales Buying another man's junk Just because the price is dirt cheap People wind up in a funk They blindly go from house to house Looking for that special treasure A wobbly beat up old coffee table A saddle of genuine leather Once bought an antique gramophone Sits downstairs gathering dust When I first laid eyes on this treasure To own it was an absolute must Now what's the sense of buying stuff That you'll never use for sure You won't see it again in your lifetime The logic's a bit obscure 1-800 Got Junk? You've seen the signs everywhere Don't get caught up in this buying frenzy You'll just leave it all to your heirs! © Jack Ellison 2012

I agree with Richard - "like moths to a flame" Well done here. Growing up with a junk collector I can relate. A garage sale, a thrift store,to my mom is like Disneyland. Always, Laura

Loved it. My Hubby collects books and plastic models. We're up to our eyeballs in the stuff. I learned not to want junk after living 33 years with his... Still one time I stopped and got an ottoman(footstool) and couldn't help myself... The moment I got home the 96 lb lab claimed it as hers... Haven't been able to get her off, to use it since... PS. She sleeps on the couch with her head and front paws on it... Once I got a cute end table... My son grabbedit for college to put his TV on... LOL

Oh I also included a copy for them to keep. 5 U.S. Presidents signed for me. Sold my total collection for a big bunch of cash! Don't ask me where that cash is now! Big huggeroonies, Jacko!

Sold my baseball card collection last spring... 200,000+ cards... yikes! In the late eighties, I was obsessed with autograph collecting. Drew portraits of approximately 1,200 famous celebrities. Sent them through the mails requesting that they sign them... about 950 did! (con't)

yes, I've been on both sides of the junk pile. A light way to look at the overwhelming situation. Love it Jack-a-roo;)

Fun, fun, fun, Jack. We can't help ourselves, like moths to a flame.

"like moths to a flame"... that nails it my friend! I've been a slave to the collecting game... baseball cards, autographs, old movies! They sit and gather dust! It's an obsession or maybe more like an illness! LOL
