10 Lines 5 Words

I’m with my friend Mable
seated at her dining table; 
her roast turkey’s bone dry
and I can’t understand why!

She cooks for the navy
but she cannot make gravy;
it ends up in lumps
and pours in gloopy clumps!

I’ve made it quite clear
I’ll make gravy next year!

The only other reference to gravy in literature that I can think of is in Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, which relates gravy to the grave as a possible explanation of Scrooge's strange visions. Let no indigestion come between us and a good new year.
