I’m with my friend Mable seated at her dining table; her roast turkey’s bone dry and I can’t understand why! She cooks for the navy but she cannot make gravy; it ends up in lumps and pours in gloopy clumps! I’ve made it quite clear I’ll make gravy next year! n/a IN 10 LINES 5 WORDS Contest Sponsored by Laura Loo Submitted to A Stunner January 2018 Contest Sponsored by Line Gauthier 12/26/17

A fine example of succinct domestic poetry. The only other reference to gravy in literature that I can think of is in Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, which relates gravy to the grave as a possible explanation of Scrooge's strange visions. Let no indigestion come between us and a good new year. Thank you also for a comment on my poetry a few weeks ago, Julian

What a lovely informative comment Julian. I'm not sure if my poetic efforts are something Dicken's would have approved of lol:-) I hope you had a lovely Christmas and my best wishes for 2018:-) hugs jan xx

I enjoy cooking and agree it is a skill you learn but you need to practice:-) We never have turkey always beef and our dinner yesterday was one of the best i can remember and the gravy was lump free apart from the very finely chopped mushrooms that I add:-) Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and my best wishes for 2018:-) hugs jan xx
