Why do we have to be so blind
when we're reborn every time
why not use the knowledge gained
when we were called by different names?

Why must we always start from scratch
to err and suffer and illness catch
why does it take us fifty years
of pain and suffering and endless tears?

Oh, to do it all again
knowing what I didn't then.
Would words unspoken in sadness mired
have kept the gun from being fired?

Such a heart-breaking poem, Danielle. If only we could turn back the clock in some cases...and maybe things would have turned out differently....always such a huge speculation that we have all dealt with. Congrats on this introspective poem being among the featured works this week. Well deserved recognition!! ~
