I couldn’t bend my knee 100 degrees today at Therapy
It’s been a month since surgery and I still can’t get it to bend

degrees.

10 More Degrees and
the trajectory of that officer’s trigger finger could have saved a black life
not extinguished one
10 more Degrees
and in 85 years the sun will burn away all the remaining residue of a disease called The Human Race from the face of the Earth
10 More Degrees
given to the right students who don’t have citizenship could change the white face of America
10 more degrees
and it’s already gonna be one of the hottest summers for ICE to melt away any existence of hispanic and latino families
Just like the conquistadors and Christopher Columbus did
10 More Degrees
of 1st Degree murder and it’s not just white people taking away black lives
because out of millions of people
8 were adult men and 1 of them was a child and all the rest watched silently
10 More Degrees
to your left and you’ll see what was once the encampment that killed thousands of innocent children who did nothing wrong but were born mexican

and could be able to walk without crutches freely
But I’m grateful I lost that ability
because it gave me the opportunity
to drop out of college and fulfill my dreams of performing poetry

forward toward my future and I will shake the ignorant awake because
