One Special Angel Made a Difference In This Little Girl's Life
Watching Beth interact with her Kindergarten class mates was precious to watch. Beth was a lovely little girl with big brown eyes, who was very affectionate. One afternoon, the school principal, called Beth's mom and dad, Kathy and Brian. Their unexpected news was shocking to hear. Beth had suffered a seizure. This turned Kathy and Brian's world upside down. Her parents took Beth to several Doctors. They did not know what was causing the seizures. The seizures increased to a hundred a day. The pain Kathy and Brian felt watching Beth go through this illness, was heartbreaking. One day Kathy noticed Beth's seizures stopped while she was watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood show, for that half hour. Realizing this, Kathy reached out to Mr Rogers' studios for a signed autograph of Mr Rogers. During this time one of Beth's Dr's had ascertained her illness. She was suffering from Rasmussens Encephalitis, an inflammatory Neurological disorder, with no cure. She had also lost function on the right side of her body, no longer going to school, and needing help to eat. She had to have surgery, to remove part of her brain. That evening Kathy received a call from Mr Rogers's studio, asking if Beth would be there at 7 pm the following day. Her mother's reply was, " Absolutely Yes!" The call came in the next day, and Kathy handed the phone to Beth and quietly stepped out of the room with Brian, to watch their daughter talk to Mr Rogers. They were both in tears, watching the joy in Beth's face. For the first time in months, there was a joy in the household that, was missing, for some time. Mr Rogers had all his puppets talk to Beth. Lady Elaine Farchi, King Friday XIII, Queen Sara Saturday, and Daniel Striped Tiger. They talked for over an hour. The call ended with Daniel The Striped Tiger telling Beth everything would be alright, and that he loved her. Mr Rogers sent her a box full of Meromobilia. She listened to his tape as she was headed for surgery, at John Hopkins Hospital. The surgery took twelve hours, but Beth went into a coma. Hearing this Mr Rogers flew into Baltimore and was by Beth's side, he brought all the Puppets with him. A month later she was out of the coma, and couldn't believe her Puppet friends were all there, along with Mr Rogers. Mister Rogers hugged her and said goodbye. He calls Beth every year on her birthday. If there ever was a human Angel it would have to be Mr Rogers. Credit also to Andie Judson Google Beth Usher and Mr Rogers
