Creepy Crawlers
Backyard barbeques, beaches, and picnics, preludes to camping and dogs fetching sticks. And sleeping in tents on the ground with slugs, centipedes, and other assorted bugs. As twilight turns to dusk, mosquitoes thirst, females vying on who will bite you first. And as summer's shorter nights start to warm past sunset, clouds of gnats begin to swarm. Ebony skies seduce flashing fireflies blinking in and out like sparks as they rise. And as creepy crawlers stir in moonlight, a cricket breaks the silence of the night. The morning mist dribbles droplets of dew onto blades of grass green grasshoppers chew. And while butterflies sip nectar first light, dragonflies prep cellophane wings for flight. Summertime's menagerie of insects includes nature's artists and architects. And far more valuable than any gem, we get to share this blue marble with them.
