Abandoned
Forgotten, I am a wilted weed tucked between the grass, Forgotten beyond the sunken morass of overgrown green. I once felt like the loveliest wildflower in your garden, and I blossomed in the sunlight of your ardent hours. Bright and bold, my sights were gold in exhilaration of you. Your exuberance, like April rain, showered me down to my roots. It quenched our soil but never drained. Filling the chasm of our expectations, I met your enthusiasm with my own eagerness, till the earth flooded in emotion, and we almost drowned beneath the ocean of our desires. The intensity between us felt like a tidal wave, and you were washed away, never looking back. Now alone, I wonder what might have been. As a black sky rises with a white moon again, I remember the unique beauty of our differences, an untamed union that exploded into dust, dying too soon. I imagine you tending to your spring garden in the infancy of love. The gentle fragrance of night-blooming jasmine mingled with soothing lavender returns, and I burn within, wishing I was still the blooming wildflower held in your skillful hands, but I am the forgotten one deserted by love.
