Pain Behind a Smile
You’re eyes had blinded us because the pain you had was hidden behind a smile You put on a poker face knowing all along you were in a darker place Behind closed doors you often cried yourself to sleep The hardest part of all was the public composer you had to keep Fighting the demons in the closet was getting harder to stay strong But you put on a great act like nothing was ever wrong Because what was important to you was making people laugh and smile However the smile on your face would fade after awhile Family and friends are the only reason you made it this long But the weight on your shoulders was getting harder to prolong You tried to stay busy and work hard to complete each task However you had to work overtime to maintain your mask And that mask on your face you maintained it very well The hurt, the pain, the agony…no one could tell Eventually the messages and post you wrote got easier to decode You figured the only option would be to lock and load You prayed to God for forgiveness and allowed it to be your time to go You didn’t realize all the tears that would follow and flow The many hearts that are shattered The many brains that are scattered However great friends and family have the power to eventually understand Because the people that truly knew you would take a stand The hurt, the abuse, the emotional scars are now erased You are still a great man just in a better place Although many would of loved to help you and give your heart a lift Everyone knows that God is the greatest gift.
