I Remember
As I sit there I can hear the birds singing. I can hear the dog panting from running too fast. I can smell the food mawmaw is cooking for Sunday dinner. I can see the rest of my family walk in the door. I watch as I see my cousins fight then laugh it off. I can feel the toy ball in my hands as I’m sitting in his lap. I can hear him laughing as I throw the ball too high. I feel my small feet hit the carpet as I run for the ball. I feel the cold metal on my hand as I turn the door knob. I felt the heat from the light as it all faded. And I’m there and I’m grown. I can hear all the people weeping. I can see the open casket and my grandma crying by its side. I can see him so pale and fragile; so lifeless and small. And I remember. I remember how much he really loved me. I remember his laugh and his smile. I remember his smell. I remember how proud he always was of me even if I didn’t succeed. And I remember. I remember how mad he would get win his favorite team wouldn't win and how every friday night was popcorn night. And I remember. I remember him down to the smallest detail. And I’ll never forget. In Loving Memory Of J.W.P
