With A Gentle Hand Poetry Contest- Sponsor Mystic Rose Rose- Written 9/4/2025
So delicate she is... her skin as soft as a silkworm That nose so small... that of a tiny two-hole button The hair- she wears, is as fine as a spider's web Her vocabulary is but one word..."Ba-ba" - bottle ... What I hear is- "Da-da! Those ten little Indian toes smell wonderfully babyish Even after she went to the market! With a careful touch I hold her gracefully in my arms and I watch her stunning emeraldlike eyes slowly close Then, as quietly and as delicately as I possibly can, I raise her to my lips, and I plant a kiss lightly on her chubby cheeks I then, judiciously, with a gentle hand... rest her perfectly shaped head upon her mushy down pillow In a soothing voice I sing to her... "You Are My Sunshine" Within seconds- just like that, she falls asleep She wears a wee genuine pretty smile... And then magically, in her sleep I hear her in her meek little voice She speaks- And what I hear again are those... marvelous, glorious, magnificent two-syllable words, "Da-da"
