Theatre of My Soul

The flying sent projections free to see,
from adjunct Astrals singing bold decree.

Perched on Pisces’s cusp, forsaking Plato’s cave,
Puppets casting shadows, chancing me a slave.

They hang from dreams of higher forms, allures
Contempt in self when loving carnal cores.

Haunted by women’s passions kept in Spirits,
Dawns my sleeping stages now inherits

Marionettes aloft eternal twists
of spinning truths with lies recalling trysts.

Killing prone volitions, changing essence.
Chosen starlight’s beings guiding presence.

Upon a love in purest form demands,
Forgotten suicides of ego strands.

Risking Pirsig’s fate in Zen and journey,
Waging sanity, a bounty worthy.

The stringing of my soul and bracing seeks,
A pulling truth beyond this death it speaks.

Exceptionally philosophic- with many allusions! You gradually move from the astrological role on your cusp sign to marionettes dancing to the tune of the puppeteer, slowly progressing to The Republic and finally the Zen approach as penned by Pirsig! Hat off to your couplet! Unbelievably intelligent! Rob,I rate you at 100! Balveen

I love this :) love the metaphors, I've used them myself in a few of my writes. Hammer in Hand is one. I see your couplet was featured as well :)

Hello Rob, I just saw your featured couplet, Theatre of my Soul," on Poetry Soup today. This is a marvelous rhymed couplet that is quite exquisitely written. And I really like your technique of alternating iambic and trochaic pentameter. The imagery and metaphors blend perfectly, and the tone and tenor of the verses are at a perfect pitch and heighten the aura of enchantment, darkness, and mystery. (I've done my own share metered work, and appreciate your work here!!) A "7" + FAV!! Cheers, Gary

Thanks Maurice for you compliment. Yes, this is for the Puppet contest. I think your poems are of this magnitude (assuming we are both capable of magnitude :) ), it is just in a different style. I think this is where people can get stuck, in considering one style or especially form, superior to another. We have seen it here at PS, with meter especially. Merry Christmas and thank you again.

WOW! I assume this is for the puppet challenge. I could live another one hundred years and I still would not be able to write a poem of this magnitude. This is being added to my favs without question. I loved reading this gem, Thank you!
