Notes About The Poem

A Five-Liner on Your Life

The Story of My Life

My life’s story is a lonely tale only my faith enabled strung.
I moved too much to belong anywhere or keep a friendship knit.
The hurts as an army brat continued when grown to render me stung.
Just core family love constantly soothed my tears and aided my grit.
Lonely hits always made me wonder why He sent me for this visit.

Interesting... Only difference between you and me is that I was just a brat. (At least I wasn't militant, however. lol.) Healing, as well as Faith, Gershon

Wonderful poem CayCay. It is tough being a military brat. I moved many times as a kid-not because of the military but for other reasons so I know exactly how you feel.

I really like this, Caycay. I don't think I knew you were ever an army brat, did I? One word didn't quite rhyme or this would have been at third place. Hope we can talk soon. Thanks for trying my contest and congrats.

This was tender and an interesting glimpse into your life! I suppose “army brats” have much more to share than your allowed 5 lines. Still you did a great job! You inspired me!

Dear CayCay, O' such a deep ache but in a profound way. The way you blend movement, loss, and resilience into each line it’s raw, honest, and beautifully vulnerable. I can feel the weight of wondering, of seeking belonging in places that never stayed still long enough to hold onto. But what strikes me most is your strength developed through the pain stitched together by faith and family. "Just family shared all my story and always loved my bits and grits." That line alone speaks of a love that never wavers, a truth that anchors even the most wandering soul. Your story matters. And whether near or far know that you are never truly alone. Thank you for sharing this piece of your heart. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I was surprised to read that all the moves and the instability didn't eventually work to your advantage... I know a rocky first half of my life (to age 37) laid the foundation for a fulfilling second half. Maybe I just lucked out or something.

How blessed to live fulfilled the 2nd half. I feel joy for you. I have lived romantic love twice, for 2 different decades, in 2 different states and was blessed to find and be with my soulmate since 2013, but even we jumped states once. I was crushed by an eventual/total realization that no girlfriend from my teen years had retained love for me, as I did them. Plus side: as an army brat, I experienced countries, many states, cultures and other that civilian kids don't. I could say much more but you wouldn't want to be trapped here reading a book ... CayCay

I'm going over to your place to see if you wrote one. It is darn hard to summarize your life in 5 lines when it would really take 100 or so. I hope Andrea doesn't mind that I included a silly line. Thanks for visiting ... CayCay
