The Battle

I battle the demons every day
I try real hard to keep them at bay

I distract myself and make a cake
Vacuum the house, a smile I fake

Not really sure what more I can do
than ride the darkness all the way through

It’s not one thing, but a combination
my soul is tired, there’s no elation

The demons claw and cause such doubt
my happy heart went walk-about

My insides churn and hopeless I feel
I sense the shadows, the battle is real

with a deep breath, I draw in some light
the beasts haven’t won, but someday they might.
