String of Sorrows

To Die

I numb my brain to ease the pain
The world is mad...a new insane
Compassion's seen with such disdain
The truth now seems so very plain
To die would be considered gain

***********************************
Alone

Alone, alone...always alone
The pain I feel cannot be known
This heart of flesh has turned to stone
Alone, alone...I am alone

Alone, alone...always alone
My dreams on wistful wings have flown
Depression has usurped my throne
Alone, alone...I am alone

Alone, alone...always alone
The wind gives voice to primal groan
This world no empathy has shown
I'll live, I'll die, and rest...alone

Would it be asking to much to allow me to much to allow me to make this into a song---I have the tune in my head all ready. See, the trouble with your Poetry is that there is no trouble with it at all. Every word is perfect and projects the emotions you desire to express. The truth is just about everything you write would make beautiful songs. You're so gifted. God Bless Eileen

Eileen, I just realized we have something to laugh about, I commented on your poem many hours ago completely unaware that I had commented on it 11 days ago. It was just as poignantly sad the 2nd time. I've lost my wee mind and I know not where, it left me without thought or care, it is a brat and its actions are unfair. Shame I was never issued a spare!

I have an alone poem that also repeats the alone line just as feeling alone does come around to repeat itself. Your poem is beautiful but if your mood, I know it will not stay but give way to a more worthy mood. Our moods are a revolving door sometimes moving with ease, sometimes bumping us sore. Your heart is a good one, as is this poem, you'll rise, and the poem will remain same that others feel its true color and know that aren't alone. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Ahhh, it's so sad that you feel so alone. I think there is a difference between lonely and alone. I enjoy being alone and I rarely feel lonely as long as I have my emails and cell phone to contact friends and family. My husband is always around too, but he's disabled now. Things aren't the same. I hope you can feel happier, Eileen. You deserve joy.

Such a raw and powerful expression of loneliness and pain. The repetition really drives the feeling deep. Thanks for sharing.

I'm doing better. I wrote these some time ago. Life has its joys and sorrows. We must embrace both and learn to move ahead. Blessings and thanks.

I felt deep sorrow and pain as I read your poem. Physical pain is one thing, but getting no compassion or empathy is worse. Appreciate the emotional intesity of your words, hugs, Sara

Thank you, Sara. I've been going through some challenges. I wrote these a while back, but decided to post them now. I'm visiting my daughter in Cyprus, so... that's a welcome change of scenery. Blessings

Oh, my - the ever-possible Soup dilemma, is it fiction or fact? I know I have felt this way twice in my life. Shifting gears, I've seen you here and there, waved at you everywhere but you didn't know I was happy to see you. I'm glad to have finally made it to your space. So many peps to read. I always loved reading your poems and this is no exception. Are you still teaching? Just you & your daughter? Am I too nosy? I'll just say, poetry wise, you deliver, you deliver. Hugs, CayCay

Hi, dear. I'm often lonely. My husband travels a lot for work. It gets me down, but... nothing I can do about it, even when my mental health suffers. The state of the world also gets me down, so no... not fiction. Taking it one day at a time, and trying to survive. I'm visiting my daughter in Cyprus... so that's bringing me joy. Big hugs and thanks for the visit.
