MY DREAM WITHIN A DREAM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ untethered, silver cord, unseen, no gravity holding me down~ released into the velvet night, wisp of smoke above sleeping earth. I drift and ascend earth, a swirling blue marble, mottled canvas of greens and browns below, my life, a minute play. houses shrink to scattered dice cars like ants on endless trails lives lived at frantic pace tiny figures moving, unaware of my drifting gaze. ethereal realm reveals…what? death or a simple shedding, peeling away of earthly skin leaving only the soul? is this the space between thoughts? is this waking or, deeper yet, a Russian doll of verity? search for hand to pull me back. listen for voice to call my name. find only loneliness. is this drifting the only truth: life is a dream dreamt while dreaming.
