For my sister Jan - Written 16th June 2025

Maestro Sister Jan

Please play a song for me Jan, in flashback
A song that brings lovely memories back
I well remember days from long ago
How we adored our musical maestro.

We'd stand round the piano as you played
Mesmerised by the sounds your fingers made
And here you are many decades gone by
Tickling the ivories, and still we sigh.

The sister we lost had a beautiful singing voice, she used to sing solos in church. I was in the church choir too, though I love to sing I haven’t got a a good singing voice. Jan is the only one of us that can play the piano. Thank you, Beryl

I remember well how our eldest sister Jan would try and get us sisters to play the piano too. I think it’s wonderful to be able to play any musical instrument, wish I could.
