For my sister Jan - Written 16th June 2025

Please play a song for me Jan, in flashback A song that brings lovely memories back I well remember days from long ago How we adored our musical maestro. We'd stand round the piano as you played Mesmerised by the sounds your fingers made And here you are many decades gone by Tickling the ivories, and still we sigh.

Beryl, you’re reminding us all how quickly time goes by for us now. You have expressed a lot of tenderness and the duality of sadness and joy that’s ever present. Hope you have many more opportunities to smile!

Thank you Duke, it’s amazing how quickly the time has gone by. I remember well how our eldest sister Jan would try and get us sisters to play the piano too. I think it’s wonderful to be able to play any musical instrument, wish I could. I hope we do have many smiles to come, and the same is desired for you too… Beryl

Hi brother John, pleased to see you back and hope you are keeping well. It was nice being with my sisters recently and recalling memories from the past. Alan is not that well, but he keeps going and that’s what matters. Thanks, Sis Beryl

Thank you Kim, I wrote this for my sister as we were discussing our childhood days recently, it brought back the memory of sister Jan learning to play the piano… Beryl

a lovely poem and delightful read with an engaging story. Growing up we stood at mother's piano, captivated with how her fingers seemed to just glide across the ivories. Nicely done! yellow rose

Thank you Paula, Jan is the eldest of five sisters, a lovely sister, as they all are. Sadly we lost one four years ago, she’s sadly missed… Beryl

Bravo Beryl. Wish my family had some music talent in my family. Alas even I, can't rhyme a poem properly.

It is nice to have a sister who plays the piano. The sister we lost had a beautiful singing voice, so did my dad. I can’t sing, but love singing, though I get on hubbies nerves. Thank you Tom
