In the Sun's Rosy Vicinity

Little Arabella Miller lived in town, but far enough out in green country, To watch the raspberry sun go down, and to climb a lavish, plum tree. Arabella was seven-years-old, and had a three-year-old, baby brother; Like the golden sunrise of promise, and unprecedented joys we discover. Arabella Miller loved all of nature, and the myriad creatures who live it, Like tuxedoed bird, warbling, or hide and seek chameleons, of quick exit. Fog had lifted from Fern Valley, when favored friends came up to visit; And Arabella frolicked mint green youth, loving every frivolous minute. As none can stay fugitive from family, they flowed in the door, steadily; Like sunshine in the house of dulcet life, where fond hugs await readily. Arabella lived in the house of purple ivy, lovely to behold, near and far; And nature was a constant companion, because it is wherever you are! Sensational sun set with a scarlet splash, on their street of astonished; And sweet birds sang the night away, even when midnight was darkest. Nearsighted full moon lingered nigh all night, in sable, nonchalant hours, 'Ere neighbors called at golden noontime, dancing among pretty flowers. 'Fire king' croscomia ruled all day, then 'cha cha cherry' danced sunset; And 'starship deep rose,' trailed starlight, like the love you'll never forget. 'Beardtongue' was mouthy and sassy, when 'snapdragon ruby,' sparkled. Then 'coroepsis sweet tart' was eaten, in hours that orange sun startled. Arabella adored luxurious, country life, lived in red sun's fiery precincts. She had a liking for pretty bugs, taking some as pets, to share secrets. Arabella loved her Grandma so dear, and luckily, she'd be coming to visit! So eagerly anticipated and longed for, she came in lazy afternoon, sunlit. Chatting as they sat, awash in the golden hour, Arabella's pet appeared; Fuzzy and red upon Mother's sleeve, then upon brother, when he neared. Both brother and mother objected, asking her to remove her caterpillar; But, there was a different reaction from Grandma. Its beauty thrilled her! In the red sun's proximity, backlit and lovely, the caterpillar was admired; Like the Grand Canyon of plum, dawn skies, offering all the views desired! Little Arabella Miller had a fuzzy caterpillar. First it crawled upon her mother, Then upon her baby brother. They said: "Arabella Miller, put away that caterpillar!" Little Arabella Miller had a fuzzy caterpillar. First it crawled upon her brother, Then upon her dear grandmother. Gran said: "Arabella Miller, how I love your caterpillar!"

You manage to astound me with your Sunday poem, as I have come to describe it. You great rhymes and near rhymes so well done seem so easy too. Great imagery and use of plants. Well done.

Precious, enjoyable ending (last 2 stanzas), sounds great, especially out loud. I've thought and thought and concluded that while those two stanzas are exact rhymes, many of the above couplets are near rhymes or free verse, so I don't know how you'd name the form. Thinking here. Never mind, scrolled up - you choose 'couplet' -that works. Again, love the imagery, and despite all the scenes you've described for other's enjoyment, your descriptive words stay fresh, how do u keep coming up with them? CayCay

Thank you, CayCay. Your response is heartwarming. Your kind expressions evoke smiles that linger. How do I keep coming up with fresh descriptive words? I love creating descriptive words, most often for nature images. Loving nature as I do, I just describe what's in my heart as I view the scene from my mind's eye. I hope your week is wonderful. :)
