Bartholomew Trout

Young Bartholomew Trout
had his brain taken out;
with it in he felt pain
empathy and humane
felt compassion and kind
for the rest of mankind;
with it out, he was cold
and so easy controlled.
Now a head without brain
you would think be insane
but he went to good schools
with some similar fools;
quickly rose to the top
with a clippity clop.
Started stirring a crowd
with his speeches so loud;
“see the man with no brain
he will lead us and reign”
said the folk with blue hair
plus the odd millionaire,
and new people in town
who did not see the clown.
Now, because of all them
he became the PM;
told us all how to think
or be thrown in the clink
for it’s thinking’s the crime.
That’s the end of my rhyme.

I don't know this person **(When I finished writing lengthy comments, I remembered you recently told me who he is, right? My brain worked?)** I deleted to start over: this is a clippity clop rhyming, goot-time slamming, caricature word painting with talent all over it. Restrictive 6 syll. lines successfully deliver unrestricted image. VERY clever throughout, a word synonymous with sarcasm that can be like therapy to a writer dealing with disappointment and let downs. Poetry hugs .... CayCay

I CANNOT FIND THE POEM that got POTD but didn't place, can you lead me to it? Pls know poem counts are way skewered since SOUP reformatted, it's in a blog and I think being worked on. Pls erase any of these dialogue boxes you'd like, if you'd like. We talked about so much. Well, one of us went on and on, and everyone doesn't need to know!!!

Hey, hey, CayCay, oh, the disappointments, the poem I recently wrote had over 2500 reads, was POTD, but did not even place in the competition for which it was written. BUT did I have fun writing it? You Betcha, so writing something like Bartholomew Trout I consider a brain exercise, the restrictive 6-syllable count being far more challenging than free verse, or that could be my excuse for not being able to write as fluidly as you; you are Van Gogh to my Rene Magritte
