The White Lady In Hood

A young black lady, with skin so smooth is one of the servants of a rich white old woman in a ranch. A young man, a distant relative and nephew, was called by the white old woman to go to her ranch. He was asked to take care of her aunt's scrawny colt. He was accommodated there and given free meals and everything while the old woman was away for several months. One morning, the black lady-servant was spotted by the young man near the stable. She was greeted by the young man and they became friends so quick. Only in the mornings that they see each other there in the ranch because the black lady-servant has a lot of other things to do inside the ranch, as instructed by the rich old woman. One late evening, a hooded white lady was seen walking around in the ranch. The young man hurriedly went out of the stable to meet and speak to the beautiful white lady, but before getting close to her the white lady instantly disappeared. The following night, the beautiful white lady was seen again. The young man thought that the white lady may just be an illusion in his mind for drinking too much tea at night because of the cool weather so he decided not to go out. In the following nights, the beautiful lady in hood appeared again before the young man. He concluded that the white beautiful lady is real, only that she doesn't want to talk to him whenever he gets close to her. He was thinking what to offer the white lady so possibly they can become friends. The young man placed a wooden table outside the stable where he used to stay the whole night. He left a fresh flower on the table and slept. The flower was gone on the table when the young man checked it out. He did it the next night and the fresh flower was taken again from the table. One misty night, the white lady's cape was caught between the branches of a small tree while trying to evade the young man for following her. The young man was able to talk to the white lady and so the white lady accepted his friendship. From then on, every night they see each other in the ranch. The young man once asked the white lady where she stays, the lady said that she lives very close to that ranch where the young man works and stays. One late night, the black lady-servant was walking around the ranch, watering some flowers and plants. She was asked by the young man if she sees a white lady there inside the ranch during night time. The black lady-servant said, "I see nobody moving around here at night." The white beautiful lady didn't appear that same night until early morn while the young man was waiting for her to come out. Many nights passed, the young man was perturbed for not seeing the white lady in hood. One early dark morn, the young man heard a female voice singing very close to the stable. The young man saw the hooded white lady and hurriedly approached her. The white lady was surprised because the young man hugged her so tight. Even more, the white lady was astonished when the young man asked to marry her. "I cannot decide right now..." said the white lady. The young man was frustrated, but respected the white lady"s decision. For many nights, the white lady in hood didn't show up. The young man was worried and so he decided to go around farther from the ranch. He brought a lanterne with him and went to the woods. He didn't find the white lady there. He did it again in the following nights. His efforts were futile. Then one night, the white lady in hood suddenly appeared before the the young man. The white lady asked the young man how true is his words and if he will keep his promise to marry her. The young man didn't boggle to answer all the questions of the white lady. The white lady was pleased with everything that she heard from the man. Later that night, the white lady said that she will be back tomorrow night to see the young man again. They saw each other again the following night as agreed. The white lady in hood was standing behind a big tree. He was approached by the young man and asked, "Why are you not facing me? I understand, you don't want anybody else to see you here with me every night whenever you wish to come out. But why are you not looking at me when you know I am already here right now, my love?" The white lady removed her hood, faced the young man and appeared so black before the eyes of the young lover. The young man fainted because the white beautiful lady she knew is not actually white in her real skin color. The hooded lady asked the young man, "Will you marry me now?" The young man stood still and was speechless. The hooded lady continued, "the black lady-servant in the ranch and white beautiful lady in hood that you you've been seeing are the same person. Which one would you choose?" The young man replied, "I need to see the mark in your right hand that you are telling me the truth." The hooded lady showed her right hand and the young man saw the small heart-shaped birthmark on her hand. The young man was delighted and embraced the black lady-servant in front of him. "You are the one!" The young man married the black lady-servant. They lived happily together and were never separated again. The black lady-servant revealed to the young man that a magical candle turns her into somebody else -- changing her skin color from black to white, whenever she wishes to lit the magical candle. The young man and husband told the black lady-servant, now his wife, that the magical candle is not needed anymore. Because true love resides in the heart, not in the outside.
