Free Thinking Mind

A Free Thinking Mind

Normally I try to live life in the moment, to be mindful each and every moment of the day. Life tends to make more sense, being in the moment the stream of thought slows and peace of our entire being follows. With concentrated discipline one is able to exist for short periods of time at the intersection of time, space, and being with the essence of mind at the pivot of time at the intersection of time, space, and being, it's the expression of life at its source. I could push the english language to its boundaries and come up short trying to describe of truly being in the moment.

I will, however, try in few words as possible; it's like being in the ocean, your feet are grounded on the bottom which is the source of life from the void, a feeling of total peace, a flash of understanding of all the is. Your head is on the surface and the surface is everyday life, and your being battered around by waves. Each wave is a thought. The waves are endless and many, that is everyday life.

Being in the moment is awesome, the discipline affords one a balanced equilibrium and peace of mind Life, just sit quietly and ask yourself its meaning. The mind quickly becomes overwhelmed to try and make any sense of life in our present state of mind is difficult for most of us. Life is the infinitude of all that exists in a moment and we all exist in that moment together around the planet as one. The simplicity of this truth passes us by without notice or pause. We must let go of our present state of mind. To understand life in its completeness. Life exists on the backgrounds of our mind and the universe, both sharing a connection we are unaware of. The essence of our mind and the universe – these two are in reality are one.

When one understands the task of being mindful and to be mindful each moment of the day one quickly realizes mindfulness is a slippery slope. It is a challenge for any man\women to discipline his or her mind. But once achieved it is one of the most rewarding exercises one can experience. Our mind unfolds, hundreds of thoughts a minute, and is out of control. We never realize this fact until we practice mindfulness. Once we realize this fact through the practice of mindfulness we can slowly do something about this chaos and discipline our out of control mind.

Life is a journey there is no destination, so why hurry. Why be in a rush to live life? We are right here right now existing in this moment. The reality is, this moment is all that is important, each moment bursting forth from the moment before, that next moment is an opportunity a chance for each and every one of us to make changes within ourselves. By the time we begin to actually learn what's really important in life, life is already over. Don't let that happen to you. Life is but a breath in universal time.

We live long enough to realize we have lived in the darkness, and with a final breath, it's over. Mindfulness is like lighting a match in our mind and practiced properly will lead us from the darkness of ignorance. Light allows the shadows and myth to fall away and our mind and heart if given a chance will open and awaken to the next level of consciousness, like a butterfly from its cocoon. One should never settle in the age-old myth ignorance is bliss, we must be cautious for ignorance always borders stupidity.

We need to keep in mind that making changes within oneself is not as difficult as one may think, making changes without is not an easy task. Trying to change things outside one's self or trying to change others is a waste of energy and time. We can change ourselves. First, we have to want to change. But one thing for sure, self-discipline, concentration, are some of the best techniques to gain control over one's mind, and oneself, and to increase your powers of understanding and observations. In our fast-paced world, these skills come in handy for ourselves and others. It is difficult to maintain a clear, peaceful and confident attitude in today's world as we all well know.

Here is an example of a very important situation where mindfulness will make clear exactly what is going on around us.

Since 9/11 our world has made drastic changes in the name of national security. We the people; innocent good people have lost so many of our rights, freedom, rights to privacy, and many other human rights and really if one watches mainstream media one quickly realizes that our safety as an individual, as a community, or country we are no more secure or safer now than we were before. As a matter of fact, it is worse now. All one has to do is open one's eyes to see that. Safety and security have been replaced by fear and insecurity instigated by our own governments with surveillance equipment everywhere we look. We can no longer travel to visit loved ones without risk to our health by x-ray machines equipment and other electronic equipment penetrating our bodies. There's the militarization of our cities, towns across the country and our world.

We now have Donald Trump with his finger on nuclear bomb buttons bullying and threats to other countries around the world. (really, ask yourself; “do I feel safer regarding my future and the future of my loved ones?”). All these new laws and changes in the name of homeland security has done is create a sense of paranoia and mistrust for our fellow man/woman. That mistrust we have for our governments, political leaders, and corporations – we transfer that mistrust to each other and that my friends is well known in psychology and sociology as transference of emotions, and is a well-documented fact. We need to wake up and realize that this is why we are fighting and killing each other, we must put an end to this attitude, my brothers and sisters. Let us wake up, let us be mindful and in the moment each and every moment of the day. Together we can put an end to unfairness and create a platform for better governments around our planet.

We are losing more and more of our rights and freedoms every day, i.e.; free choice, equal income opportunity, free speech, freedom of movement, freedom to protect oneself and loved ones, rights to maintain health, food, and shelter. We pay huge tax dollars, we have a right to these necessities. (the rich are only rich because of the suffering and terrible conditions they create for the poor).

Unfortunately, governments around the globe tend to create fear and insecurity and many other problems and then the solutions they offer to those problems are losses of the freedoms we pay tax dollars for. We have a right to live in a free democratic society. The only way we can keep and maintain what we have is to see and understand is to wake up and see what is taking place around us every day. Mindfulness!

The ones that make the changes that benefit humanity is humanity, individuals, and groups of thoughtful people working together make changes. It's not our leaders the Donald Trump's, Tony Blair's, Margret Thatcher's, or Justin Trudeau's of our world. It is you and me working together as one. Together we stand divided we fall ... that simple. We need to realize and then make our leaders realize we the people voted them into power to work for us to make our world a better place. Not a better place for themselves which they have done, but a better place for humanity.

We should never stand in the shadows from the light of the heavy hitter of big questions that need to be asked, to seek justice and equality for men and women, and for all peoples in the world. We should demand answers and reason for those big questions. Never settle for first answers. Never! Always question everything til truth is laid out for us. Always! We will recognize the truth for there is nothing more ancient and beautiful than truth. Truth is one. Truth does not leave one wondering, confused, anxious, or uncertain as to choices one needs to make during one's life. We have the right to make choices based on fact. Rather than truth comes from friends, partners, politicians, corporations, or top government officials we the individual have a right to make choices based on truth and facts.

Truth is not hurtful, painful, nor does it cause suffering – truth is just Truth. If you are suffering, or are hurt, or feel pain because of truth it is only because you are living in and believing in lies for far to long! The fact is there is no confusion in truth, truth is one. Once we know the truth we are able to make a decision during our life that will allow us to achieve our goals and become successful. If on the other hand, we are making decisions in our lives and in our future based on lies we are being set up for failure. (relationships are good examples of building a tomorrow on dishonesty, cheating and lies. People get hurt and lives are wasted. People in those relationships see the lies and refuse to believe their own powers of observation thinking it will go away. It doesn't!) People and relationship with government and corporations, and the rich aswell are very much likened to relationships. No one wants to believe someone has you bent over the fence. Truth is the longer you are in that position the more and longer it hurts. Give us the truth and let us make our own decisions!

Remember brothers and sisters we are poor people, not criminals. We have rights! Poor people get stressed out and make negative decisions that land us in bad situations – no money, no jobs that pay enough for food, health, and shelter. Fact; there are no good jobs for poor people, which is why we are poor. When one does find a job it is for minimum wage and terrible work conditions.

Being mindful allows us to realize the truth about our situation, and realizing our situation, that it is not our fault as we are made to believe, we can then make changes that will improve our lives for the better. It will give us the confidence to put our best selves forward into a better tomorrow.

Kindness, love, and compassion to our fellow sentients beings improve the quality of life for everyone. Having common goals in our lives gives us hope and the motivation to stand together as One because we are One. One planet, One sky, One people ... Understanding this through Mindfulness will make life so much better for all peoples.

MUCH LOVE,

Paul Lake
