Escape from Hell


It Begins

I teetered and I tottered, unsteady after the fall.
Of course, it was the northern witches’ fault.
The coven ambushed me as I struggled
to escape before the darkness set in.

My night began with unrest. I knew the path was fated.
The encouragement of the southern ghouls filled me with irrational confidence as I set off to meet the Head Warlock. My resolve damp and weakened, I straightened and inhaled a gulp of oxygen and false courage. The Head Warlock could free me from the curse of the witches and allow me to flee.

My mortal home, worlds away through the crystalline portal.
I had challenged the somnambule monster from among the gubbins under my bed. He had thrown me here as a punishment.

Could I return to my world? Or would the cost be too great?
