Elan World 2 - The Prophecy

by

The kind man takes me by the hand and leads me to a room.

An ancient tome lies open there for me, so I assume.

It speaks about a future queen who's from an unknown tribe,

the name it gives this princess child, emended by a scribe.

I read with zeal and fervor as the old man stands and waits,

I have to learn about this one, for is her fate my fate?

The world that she's to govern seems a happy place indeed,

they call themselves the Elanites and no one lives in need.

I turn the page and there I read a warning with disdain,

the prospects for continued peace seem clearly on the wane.

An evil force is prophesied to come upon the land

about the time the princess child arrives to lend a hand.

I close the book and saunter to the window, opened wide.

The rainbow arc has disappeared, dark clouds are in the sky.

I feel a shiver down my spine and ask, "Am I the one?"

He looks at me with coal black eyes and summons me to come.

Along the way he tells me all about the former queen,

the palace she had built here was the greatest ever seen.

They ruled in perfect harmony, the kingdom was secure.

"One day she came up missing, what happened no one's sure.

From that day on your father's health went south and never rose.

The prophecy foretold that you would come here unopposed.

You are the one, my princess child, to sit upon his throne,

but first you have to find the queen, leave no stone upon a stone!"

I say goodbye with heavy heart then exit through the gate,

I wonder where the wind will lead me now, it's getting late.

It takes me to the clearing where it was I'd first found flight,

I lay me down to sleep right there as day segues to night.

I dream about my old life on a place called planet earth-

a skinny red-haired girl who felt that she had little worth.

Born and raised in Kansas on a farm with pigs and cows-

she remembers getting hurt, though she can't remember how.

As I awake the forest creatures snuggle at my side.

I find some comfort knowing 'there' I was no princess child.

Just a girl from Kansas with a love for nature's gifts,

a teen who cherished stories that would her heart and soul uplift.

Then suddenly a voice calls out, so gentle and so sweet.

Elana is the name she calls and asks, "When can we meet?"

I strain my voice to call to her, "Please come my little one,"

then from the woods an angel nears whose face shines like the sun.

Very beautiful...I love this story. There is a message in it, exactly where that message will be found is up to the reader.
