Poetry is Truth -- and truth connects time and space. If it was true for Plato, it was also true for Shakespeare, and is therefore true for the modern poet. Which, insistently, works the same in the converse. The modern poet does not need new language and form (gimmicks)...what he or she needs is to often revisit man's relationship with omnipotence.

I am very poor at small talk. Language, people interaction needs gusto, deep commitment or it is a waste of precious time. Life has so much more to offer. Why there is true poetry. Not talking cute rhymes and mere flashy alliteration.

Poetry is really only saying things with deeper, more aware commitment. Treatment of words in such a way that gives the reader desire and space for personal mental, spiritual interaction. In short, poetry is more thoughtful. To be poetic involves heartfelt communion on a creative level that does not exist even with dear, profound prose. Great prose often exhibit strong poetic language.

It's a good idea for a poet to read a lot of poetry, preferably in more than one language, making no effort either to concentrate on or to avoid the poetry of any particular country or century, including your own: just read what you like. Then when you write a poem, assume your reader has read, understood, and liked all the same poetry that you have read, understood, and liked. That this isn’t true doesn’t matter.
