The Creative Arts not The Creative AI

Blog Posted by Simon Rogerson: 10/14/2024 5:39:00 AM

This is a good explanation of the creative arts. They help us to look beyond the obvious, challenge us to reflect and see the world in a different way. It is a human pursuit. By the way, the image is AI-generated - to me it is ovbvious it is. What might Dali have painted? Indeed are there any soupers out there who are painters and willing to share their take on the creative arts? We could then all poetically interpret the paintings!

My take Simon on the creative arts derives from .Ephesians ,chapter 2 verse 10 tells me ..we are God's handiwork*(poiema) ie ' poetry ie his work of art ..each of us in His image..inherently creative & gifted..within awaiting us to find & display. It .

I like your ideas shared. AI has its place in that it can help a person who is struggling to get an idea from which to write or paint as can nature be human nature or any of the nature of plant earth and I am sure of the stars as well. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Yes I agree that AI as a tool to inspire our creativity is a valuable addition in the modern world. It is just one small additional element in the potpourri of inspiration. Simon

Brian, that's an interesting point about signing the digital creation. As for the price of my book - I totally agree I have spoken often to publishers about the flawed pricing strategy they have. It stiffles creative thinking etc. Simon (BTW I'm not Roger!!!)

Simon,I note your book review of ' Imagine! Ethical Digital Technology for Everyone' concens art &poetry ,my emagi form ''EMAGI is a recent variation of a reverse ekphrasis derived by the advent of the widespread use of hand held digital communication devices -where words in digital symbols /letters can be represented as a shape and uses a poet's poem to inspire the digitised 'drawing'.An example can be seen here. " https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/reverse_ekphrasis_an_explanation_1608317 A digitised continuaton of a reverse ekphrasis ie the inverse of the centuries old poetic form of ekphrasis. The most well known example being Charles Demuth 'Figure 5' based upon a W C Williams Poem.

Simon,This is a link to an ekphrasis inspired this morning by your words& Dali style pic of your 'creative' blog https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/a_blog_inspired_ephrasis_1681227 ------- I take it your Dali apprecation comes from the experiences of your Ensalada Mixta: Observations and Inspirations by Simon Rogerson, 2017, ISBN: 9781999882600.

An amazing Ephrasis Brian. And yes the appreciation came from Ensalada Mixta and I've visited Dalí venues in Girona, Figueres and Cadaques - absolutely incredible! Simon

An ekphrasis - An AI castle in the sky - With balloons and clouds floating by - And folk standing there on the sand- It seems luxurious and grand.- One must understand its a bluff - Which truly is not good enough - It’s not been painted by a hand - But generated on command… Beryl

Knowing hardly anything about art, I would just take this to be a typcial modern art picture. I mainly like the realist painters who came before the 1900's. Even a few of the impressionists.

Such type of painting is surrealism but i am not a fan of such genre . I love impressionism paintings like that of Monet( I have written a few ekphrasis poems about that)which depicts passage of time by rendering appropriate execution of light and shadow. Moreover, painting just like poetry speaks but in a silent way, as the saying goes, " painting is a silent poetry".
