Born in south Louisiana quite a number of years ago, I lived in St. Mary Parish until I was six years old, then moved to deep south Texas.  I attended elementary school there until the beginning of the eight grade then finished eight grade in Louisiana, then back to Texas until the beginning of the 10th grade, then back to Louisiana, where I finished high school.  After a short time in college, I joined the Air Force, went through a lengthy tech school, then spent 2 years in Germany and about the same amount of time in far northeastern coastal Turkey.  While in the Air Force, I attended additional training/college programs (which continued after I left the service).....I have since lived in south Louisiana, including New Orleans (rather briefly), Houston, Bryan (Tx), short stints in southern California and in New York City, back in south Louisiana, and in south Texas and northern Mexico, where I have lived and worked (in Texas and in Mexico) continuously for the last 45+ years.......I am currently retired and enjoying (?) pursuing interests that I had neglected for a long time.....

Random thoughts, occasional kudos and complaints, of a neophyte blogger

Blog Posted by Leo Larry Amadore: 5/8/2017 11:16:00 AM

Blog number one:  I am not experienced in blogging nor in sharing my every passing thought or opinion on anything (except, perhaps, in some of my poems) .  having almost always been rather guarded (and, indeed, rather secretive) about most "personal" information  Perhaps this blog will now, if I choose to use it as an occasional confessional, will serve the purpose well enough -- and it should, at least, allow me to cmmunicate freely..

I would like to thank all those who have read and commented on my posted poems and encourage them to continue to do so, with particular attention to the older posting which appear on "pages" after the first page of the listings of my poems on poetrysoup.....it is an understanable but unfortunate consequence of listing poems in the order of newest poems first that the older postings, which were posted, many times, in groupings of several per day, do not receive the number of "visits" that later posts of fewer numbers of poems in a day may receve.

I would also like to encourage "soupers" to read and to comment on the four short stories I have posted in the new short story area of poetrysoup.  My eyesight has been deteriorating (I am awaiting being scheduled for cataract surgery) so I have not been very active in reading and commenting on new works on this site, although I do visit (sometimes multiple times daily) and I scan the listed titles and names of their authors and I occasionally post a comment.  I am particularly attracted to works whose subjects and/or titles strike me as being particularly interesting, emotionally affective, clever, and timely -- and, of course, I have my own personal favorite poets and I try to read as many of their posts as I can.

I will try to make my next "blog" a little more interesting!

Hi, Leo. I think I may have read some of your poems before. Sorry to hear about your eye problems and I hope you get better with them. Good luck with your writing and reading of more poetry.

Thanks for reading Andrea....you have, indeed, "read some" of my poems before, and have offered very supportive and kind comments for many of them....and I thank you very much for that, and for this "visit." You are one of those whose name in the listings of new poems causes me to pause and to read your latest postings, all of which I usually enjoy very much!

Please ignore (or correct in your mind) the errors in my posting (I seem to be having some occasional troubles with my computer (cursor jumping around, deleting letters, not allowing proper positioning of words, etc....) and with my own error prone typing and proofreading....thank you for your indulgence.....
