Minister Elder of Communication/Counseling
Julius Lawrence
(Click for Poet Info...)
This is My Story - My Life
I am a Minister Elder of Communication / Encouragement Counseling (Credential through Open Ministry and Assistant Minister at Metro Harvest AOG in Syracuse, NY) and owner of JuLaw Consultant Services / Investors...'Master of the Internet' (JCSI...'MotI'). I have been married for over 50 years. (to Margaret). We had a son who died at birth and we also have two beautiful daughters Melissa and Tiffany) who are doing great in life. I am in my seventies years of age and will continue to do what I believe God has called me to do in this time of my life. I believe and trust in God through my Lord, Savior, and Great High Priest Jesus Christ, who is the head of my life. I originally came from a small town called Lamont, Fla., 29 miles south of the capital of Tallahassee, Fla. I graduated from a small high school called Howard Academy in Monticello, Fla. in 1963. Our motto was 'The Bumble Bee', which is a 'strong Bee' that which seems to be impossible to fly, but it does and does it better than any other flying bug (in my personal opinion). In the 60s, it was very challenging for me growing up, where prejudiced filled the land. Being a person of color (Black), I didn't have the same rights and privileges as a white person, but I managed and made it through those challenging years. To make a long story short, I came to Syracuse, NY in 1965 and didn't have any idea of how to complete my education, because I had a learning disability and to get through the thing that happens in my life was very challenging. So I decided to join the Job Corps Program in Syracuse, NY. I was among the first people of color to leave the City of Syracuse to join the Job Corps Program. I was sent to Parks Job Corps Training Center in Pleasanton, Calif., studied at the University of Calif. in Berkeley, Gary Job Corps Training Center in San Marcos, Texas, and graduated. I continue my education through Syracuse University College, p/t from 1970 through the 80s, studying a variety of courses. I attend Empire College and received my credential in Social Services Competency-Based Training, Graduated. I attend Regents College (Cornell Cooperative Extension), Family Development Credential Program, Graduated, and a variety of other studies. My objective (and still) 'To help as many individuals as possible to realize their potential for becoming self-sufficient". I have had a variety employments in my lifetime, but working with the P.E.A.C.E. Inc. A program was one of the best, because this program helped me throughout my education process, especially working with P.E.A.C.E., Inc. as the Program Coordinator of Project Connection located in Kennedy Square Apartment Complex. I was able to use my skills, with the help of my staff and the main office to help many families in that complex and around the city, which I am forever grateful that God allowed me to use my ability, talent, and skills to help others. There is Great Potential which God has placed within each individual and I WILL NOT allow that which He has placed within me to go to the grave unused. Without His guiding, I would not be able to do anything sufficient in life. My work in Kennedy Square Apartment Complex was very challenging because it had many violent activities that took placed in the complex, such as shootings, illegal drugs sold, etc. However, it was very rewarding to me and all who worked with me, because we were able to help many families, especially their children. This is only a short view of my story and it continues still today as we speak. I want to thank all the programs, agencies, organization, churches, individuals who helped in my life. Through God, He has made invisible things become visible ("Now Faith is the substance of things hope of, the evidence of things not seen"). There is one thing that I have said most of my life and still saying it; 'Our youth are not just the future to come, they are 'The FutureNow’. What we do for them NOW will determine WHO and WHAT they will be TOMORROW'. I still have much more to do in my life with the grace of God Almighty.
One of my special Scripture is; "This is the confidence that we have in Him IF we ask anything according to His will, He hears us, and IF we know that He hears us, WE HAVE the petitions that we desire of Him (1John 5:14-15).”
