It has been 26 months since my last submission.
Hello all you wonderful writers, how I have missed you so.
Well, I thought I'd make a quiet comeback yesterday with "Ode to an impostor" but, due to the many questions in my comments and soup mail, I figured a blog is probably in order.
First, a big thank you goes out to those who have welcomed me back so enthusiastically. I appreciate your warm sincerity more than you know. I have lurked around from time to time over the past two years to check on everyone in secret and respond to emails asking after me and offering encouragement.
My hiatus was primarily due to the unpleasantries of ongoing issues with my health and the resulting physical and emotional down time. I simply didn't have any poetry in me for awhile. Everything seems to be under control for now with the help of steroid and chemotherapy treatments. I do not have cancer, so no worries there. These treatments are used on me to weaken my hyperactive immune system so it stops attacking me. The good news is, it seems to be working well and I have not lost any of my awesome bright red hair.
Considering all of the above, I thought it appropriate to write my comeback poem around some of the feelings and experiences I've had throughout the ordeal but since I am not a gloom and doom writer by any stretch, it should make for a good smile.
Thanks again everyone, it's good to be back with you and I look forward to getting to know the new talent brought in during my absence, looks pretty good so far.
