Wolves

We decide to hunt in the night as our prey leaves a trail
With my pride on the line I must bring it down without fail
My pack leader’s orders are absolute only for this day
Yet I shall challenge refute his acclaim for what I will slay
We surround our quarry and it is I who takes the lead
Since I’m the fastest in the pack with my amazing speed
With eyes wide the deer starts trembling with fear
As my bloodthirsty family attacks the doe from its rear
I get the kill, choking it with a firm bite on its neck
The pack closes in, mouth watering with bloody specks
The leader brushes me aside to have first at the meal
Followed by my bitch mother slinking along at his heel

He resented me from the beginning because I wasn’t his pup
I knew he wanted me out, but when, I thought as I got up
But like a coward he surrounded me with several other males
So I backed down turned around and tucked in my tail
I left the pack hungry as the night trees swayed
Deprived of my glory I wandered alone for days
Out of their territory that’s when I first caught a whiff
Of a b*tch in heat somewhere near as I sniffed
As I followed her scent I knew she was alone
Maybe she was just like me ousted from her home
As I got closer I confirmed that she was in heat
She would be the prize I would certainly meet

I crept even nearer and she sensed my approach
Baring her fangs and hackles raised to reproach
I let her run off to wait for darkness and cover
An opportunity to hunt her a present my soon to be lover
The full moon was bright when I approached her again
With a rabbit in my mouth to show I was more than a friend
She glared at me in suspense, with her glowing red eyes
Her hackles raised but it just made my own lustiness rise
I showed no fear and laid the token feast at her feet
While looking like the beastliest beast she ravaged the meat

She gave me her caress and accepted me for her mate
Then we howled at the moon in a synchronized state
As our loneliness now abated we both started to swoon
We would start our own pack by making these vows at the moon
Howls of music our sweet music that gave both a delight
Mating, we consummated our love under the bright moon light
