Was It An Angel's Wings I Saw Spreading

Was it an angel’s wings I saw spreading
Was is it the Milky Way
She lived her life in water; and she’s there
In her perfect Death.
Never taking a single breath.
Never felt the warmth of the Sun. or
the touch of my kiss
Perfect in her Death.
Alone but never alone.
Loved. Expected. Needed. Anticipated. Perfect
In her death. Perfect
In her Life.
Ever loved in our hearts
Never in our arms. Why?
The tapestry is incomplete. Broken. How can it not be flawed?
So perfect in her Death.
Floating down.
Sinking through
I touch her and cannot feel her.
I need her and cannot want her.
I love her yet cannot know her.
Where is the perfection in this?
How is His Will here, Now?
A flash of light. A Sense of Insight
Where is the lesson?
How do I learn?
Why do I yearn to see her here
Feel her in my arms
How can my heart open and love…and break so easily?

Gentle little girl, where did you go?
When will I meet you? How will I know you?
Grace—
Where’s the Grace in this?
Lord—Show me what I need to know—
	Which way do I turn?
How will I know Your path?

Lived all your life in water
Now you rest there.
Please. Keep me safe.
	  Give me strength
Wrap your tiny fingers around mine.
		Just once
So I can tell you I love you.
				Again.

This has touched my very heart. As a parent I feel for you. We will not always be given answers, but we will be given strength to carry on. Words are futile. May you always find comfort in the knowledge that she rests in the arms of God. Blessings and welcome to Poetry Soup. Thank you for sharing your grief with us. Maybe we can, in a small way, help you bear it.
