Shadow

A silence hangs where once you breathed.
Your loyalty was left behind.
The atmosphere is quiet
despite the shining sun.
Children can't be heard
playing together in the streets.
A gentle wind carries your scent.
What remains of your love
are memories that paint a portrait of us
teeming with nostalgic joy.
The family together,
the perfect hug, the kiss.
Our seasons of compassion
have dissipated, becoming silence.
At least I'll carry golden memories,
remnants of your existence.
