The Picture

The Picture

Where should I put the picture
It’s the last one that we took
Like a flower that I long to cherish
Should I place it in a book
Then one day when it’s raining
I’ll take out that book to read
The last picture that we took together
Will be the first thing that I see.

Should I put it in a frame that’s golden
On a mantle by itself
Watch as memories from days of olden
Transform an old and empty shelf
Each time that I pass the picture
I’ll give your smile a second look
And be reminded of our times together
And the last picture that we took.

I could put it in a silver locket
On a chain that I could wear
I would store it in a velvet pocket
Protect and handle it with care
When someone wants to see what’s inside
I’ll just unclasp the silver hook
They’d see two best friend’s side by side together
In the last picture that they took.

It doesn’t matter where I put the picture
It’s always here for me to see
Like seasons passing in an order never changing
Somethings I know will always be
Great works of art painted by the Masters
The pen of authors that have written classic books
Within my heart is my own painting and great novel
Of the last picture that we took.
