Be Not Afraid

My days are long, but the nights are longer.
I can't wait for the day when I feel stronger!
My emotions are high, but my energy is low.
I wish that my healing wasn't so slow!

Time, tears, and talking is the name of the game,
But the most difficult of all is feeling the shame.
So many issues confusing my mind,
Discovering the truth feels so unkind.

Revealing my pain and learning to talk,
Wanting to run, but needing to walk,
Changing my thinking is ever so slow,
While feeling emotions will help me to grow.

Healing is hard work and requires much time.
This mountain is tall but so worth the climb!
The paths that I choose are mine to claim,
Refusing to be buried beneath this pain.

Facing my fears and feeling emotions,
Riding the waves on the largest of oceans,
As each wave subsides, a new one arises,
I'm removing my mask and all the disguises.

For what lies beneath is a story untold,
A treasure worth seeking and once to behold.
There is so much beauty hidden within,
Waiting to shine, when at last I win!
