Autumn

AUTUMN

A brisk chill in the air
Reminds me Christmas will soon be here
My thoughts take a leap to Jamaica
To warmth and family and friendly gala.

The dark red of the trees
Remind me of sorrel drink
And the yellows of bright shining sun
For a moment there is a longing

But the beauty of nature’s palette
Takes my attention away
To focus on the colours of autumn
As the trees make their awesome display

Some trees are covered in Yellow
Sometimes they are totally red
There’s variety of colours as leaves change their green
One never knows what is ahead.

The Evergreens feature, not to be outdone
And the Holly’s shiny leaves give everyone a run
But the assortment of colours brings warmth to my heart
And I feel peaceful as I enjoy nature’s Art.

A single leaf trembles, hanging just by a thread
I watch as it flutters down to its bed
A wind whips up and leaves fall like rain
The scenery changes again and again

Reflections of autumn show the rhythms of life
Of circles and seasons and daylight and night
As trees become bare and winter sets in,
Until spring emerges and new life begins.
