Autumn Turns To Winter

The rich foliage of autumn’s morn appears.
The darkness of the night has cloaked the winter’s chilling kiss.
The signs of ageing and of change herald the season of my fears.
Too soon are gone the summer days of warmth and light I miss.

A blanket tapestry of browns of greens of orange leaves and red;
The beauty of the trees adorned in glory,
Betray those who gaze in wonder into being misled.
Winter’s final kiss of death will tell a different story.

Why is life’s autumn season with such beauty dressed?
Why save such glory to adorn us at the ending of our days?
Tis nature’s crown that celebrates our fruitfulness;
Tis life’s farewell before the parting of our ways.
