The Lake

The Lake:

Day has fallen the midnight hour has ascended,
The moon glows among the trees and fences.

Winds begin to blow the chilly nights await,
A stark reminder of the frozen lake to where my love met her fate.

I close my eyes as I begin to sleep for it is your face that I start to see,
You call my name I awake to the sound of the lovely voice but you are not around.

Tears roll down my face as I helplessly wish for your embrace,
Long ago memories of the love we had together, hoping the days and nights would last forever.

My life now is forever changed, my soul is empty my heart is filled with pain.
Why did you leave me! I scream in the dark, why did fate keep us apart.

The night continues its journey through, I begin to think more of you.

Trapped in lives cruel and demeaning way, I feel the anger inside myself replay another night turns to day.

Day has come to bring another reminder of the love I lost and the way I found her.

I will not remember you in your life hereafter; I will only remember your smile and your special laughter.

The days pass into years my heart still aches for you, my dear,
My eyes are filled with many tears, the love I have for you is still there.

Time will not take away from the memories I have of you, your kindness and grace, as I sit upon this frozen lake, for it is your long lost love that I will forever sake.

Kevin Richards.
