Sweet Baby

Sweet baby, another evening shows itself; Another day has closed. This is the time I long for you and mourne my choice the most.

I wonder how I have the right to feel, the pain and loss I do.
It was afterall MY decision to refuse change which meant lose you.

At first you were just sickness; morning, noon and night.
I see it now, my darling, how you were just growing with all your might.

I pray you know sweet baby, wherever you might be, how frightened and lost I was, I did not feel like me.

And with that one scared choice, at the time I thought was right, the flicker of hope and the future, went out just like a light.

Oh, Gaby, welcome to PoetrySoup. Your first poem is heart-wrenching, but so well expressed.
