Lady Jane Grey

Lady Jane Grey was only sixteen
A happy teenager till they made her queen
They wanted her status they wanted her name
But she was only a pawn in their game

Those unscrupulous people those evil men
Forced her to fulfil their evil ends
What they wanted was fortune and fame
She was only a pawn in the game

Forced to marry Guilford Dudley
She had no say in the matter you see
So Lady Dudley what she became
Because she was only a pawn in their game

When King Edward died they proclaimed her Queen
This well educated innocent teen
A rival to Mary who quickly came
But she was only a pawn in the game

Just nine days later that dangerous date
Mary was crowned and that sealed Janes fate
Sentenced to die to the scaffold she came
She was only a pawn in the game

She was blindfolded she fell on one knee
She was helped to the block because she couldn't see
Just one swing of the axe it was such a shame
Because she was only a pawn in the game

Oh what a waste of an innocent life
She could have been a mother and a wonderful wife
But still she's remembered our lady Jane
She was only a pawn in their game

"Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
